Carla’s Art Camp
In it’s 19th year, this ceramics art camp offers hand building in clay, with many techniques including slab, coil, sculpting, pinch & learning how to throw a pot on the pottery wheel. A mosaic project, color mixing & painting lesson, and glazing the ceramics are also part of each 1-week sessions.
New projects added for 2011: water color painting, drawing with pencil, charcoal, oil pastels, acrylic painting, and Zentangle which is a new form of sophisticated doodling-very fun and relaxing!
Students have fun creating from their own imagination,
as well as making the projects offered. Step by step lessons give developmental
strategies, problem solving & intuitive leaps for first time students; and
those who attend yearly continue to develop their confidence and skills with
more challenging projects.
A focus on creative growth and development, while
encouraging exploration, imagination & individual expression are among the
successes achieved in this camp. Each child receives individual attention &
guidance, and freedom to create their own projects along with those
offered.
All ages attend together. Younger and older students always find others similar in age to group with. Art is a personal expression and so it has always been a successful experience for all ages to be creating art together. Sometimes the younger kids look up to the older students as a mentor. Everyone comes in starting out at their own developmental level and learn many skills.
